Aspirations
Our aspirations as an organization are to continue our activities at a very large scale under the three programmes
Music and Drama
The favoured few have released two musical albums with songs that have blessed hearts in Sierra Leone, Cooke (Minnesota) and Marshalltown (Iowa) in the U.S.A. The favoured few have been renting P A systems and musical instruments to undertake activities. As a group we are determined and have prayed over the ownership of a musical band which will be used to do live performances during our musical concerts and also used as P A system during our role plays and mobilization activities.
There is launch a fund raising campaign for the purchase of a musical band. We have prioritized our needs in the scale of preference and having a band is the uttermost priority for next year with God being our helper. We have an advantage of having various instrumentalists who have played with various musical bands within Sierra Leone. We anticipate interested persons to be a part of this project.
Outreach Programmes
Our aspirations and intentions under here is to undertake large scale holistic evangelism wherein souls will not only hear the word of God but where they are sick they can get medical attention, school going children that cannot afford fees get paid for, free lessons held for students by members of The Favoured Few, and feed the hunger if we can. With God being our help we hope to get interested persons in this programme.
Youth Mobilization
Apart from the few training seminars we have had in the past we hope to be bringing together numbers of youths for retreats, camps (youth’s and children’s camps) and conferences. Such retreats will have youths gathered from different locations and addressed by Men of God on a life changing theme. The camps will see participants based out of their various homes for maybe a full week and fellowship together while undertaking different activities together. Such may include Bible studies, games, evangelism, music and drama, experience sharing etc.
Youth Mobilization
We haven’t done much to bring the youths together especially in the area of training seminars. Only three training seminars have been held on the topic “how to live a Christian life”. The first was held in Freetown and fifty youths were brought together from various Churches and trained on evangelism for a day. Similar trainings were organized in Bo and Sierra Rutile respectively, where many youths realized the need for such meetings and appreciated the group for such a wonderful and spiritual initiative.
OUTREACH PROGRAMMES
Outreaches especially through holistic evangelism have been undertaken by the favoured few. It has been observed that perishing souls do not only need Jesus but also have other needs that if met, are necessary for them to embrace Jesus Christ. Even Jesus Christ fed the hungry, healed the sick etc. Therefore, members of this organization deem it fit to evangelize to people through physical and spiritual means. The spiritual means is by evangelizing the souls for spiritual healing and the physical means by addressing the needs of people. In connection to this we decide to make some offering by putting together affordable clothing for our brethren in Christ while preaching the good news in order to depict true Christianity. This created an impact in Mattru Jong, where it was started during the week long camp –during our visiting hours (one hour per day to go out). There were also a few more around Bo, how ever this has been done at a very low rate due to financial constrains.
There is truly dire need to help people medically, educationally, psychologically, socially and so forth. Another initiative we have taken is by assisting school going youths in their academics, especially in areas where they are lackingMusic and Drama
Different sub-activities have been undertaken under this. Such include;
- Role Plays
This activity was the first ever undertaken by the favoured few. It was during the youth camp held in Mattru Jong where three short skits were acted mainly favoured few members and two more plays acted along side other youths. All were written and directed by the favoured few (Rainy Ansumana). Almost all attendants of this camp build up so much interest in the favoured few and liked our plays. Note: a total number of about 300 youths were present at this camp from all over the country.
- Musical Concerts, caroling and home fellowships
The favoured few, as a group, has held four different concerts wherein their albums were launched and have participated in many others. Two were held in Moriba Town and Mogbwemo (Sierra Rutile) on the 20th and 21st October 2007 respectively and nearly a total of 450 people attended both concerts. The concert held in Bo was on 9th December 2007 brought together 300 people and 22 May 2010 had about 400 in attendance. The Freetown concert, held on the April 6 2008, was attended by nearly 500 people. This group has also participated in similar concerts organized by other groups around Sierra Leone. Also, we have visited homes to fellowship with their families wherein we shared the word of God by exploring the Bible and singing songs. This mainly happens during Christmas. These concerts and fellowships have been a blessing to all those who have Endeavored to attended and also leaving an indelible mark spiritually in the lives of many.
