MISSION
The Favoured Few is a youth oriented organization that seeks to cater for the spiritual and social needs of people and communities; mainly through music and drama.
VISION
The Favoured Few envisions the souls reached and unreached to be reached with God’s word and impacting lives for positive development.
Generally the group stands for integrity which was derived from Psalm 26: 1 “Declare me innocent O lord, for I have acted with integrity; I have trusted in the lord without weaver. These three objectives; uprightness, consistency (without weaver) blamelessness were highly considered in chosen our motto. Job stood firm to maintain his integrity by proving to be very consistence. We need integrity and honesty to preserve us along life’s journey. We are not claiming to be sinless – that is impossible for any human being to achieve. Instead we will ask God to examine us, trusting him to forgive our sins and clear our records to his mercy.
Titus 2: 7 tells us that we ourselves must be an example to them by doing good works of every word. Let every thing we do reflect our integrity and seriousness of our teaching. It is obvious that we must shine our light before them that they may see our good works and glorify our father who is in heaven according to Mathew 5: 16.
The name of the group was obtained from Jesus’ teachings on the parable at the wedding party in Mathew 22: 1- 14. Verse 14 “for many are called, but few are chosen is the focal verse from which the name emanated. The many called embrace all who hear the gospel; the whole Jewish nation and the Gentiles of every land where the gospel is preached. The chosen are those who choose to accept. So out of the great multitude of hearers of God’s holy word only a few choose to accept and walk through the narrow paths where Christ treads and because of this we count them to be favoured. Therefore, being path of chosen few that have God’s divine favour, this group was called “The Favoured Few”. All those who choose to accept the good news are considered to be part of the favoured few.
As members of the favoured few our confidence is build on 2 peter 1: 10 “Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble”. And revelation 17: 14 “These will wage war against the lamb and the lamb will overcome them, because He is lord of lords and king of kings, those who are with Him are the chosen and faithful”.
In July, 2006 the United Brethren in Christ church Sierra Leone conference organized a youth camp in Mattru Jong, Bonthe District, and southern Sierra Leone. This camp was open to every youth that wished to attend no matter the denomination.
While preparing and planning for this camp, two of our members, James Kainwo and Rainy Ansumana talked about forming a group. Rainy wanted a drama group to make an impact on lives through role plays at the camp, while James talked about a group that would not only embark on singing but also holistic evangelism even after the camp. They were both like interested in their areas of talents but ended up combining the two to form the group and named it 'the favoured few'.
